The Heart of a Woman

Shivangi and me were coming back home (I don't even remember when this was and where did we go that day :P). I bought coke from station. I love coke. ( PS: If I share my coke with you .. you are very special to me :P). It was about 7:30 in evening, completely dark, crowded station. There was this small kid who came to us begging. I hate beggars. At first they try to creep you out or tell false tails and I have been a victim of one such story and didn't want to look stupid so I just ignored the kid. He started asking for my coke and touching it. I didn't listen and went on. Shivu looked at him and then me in quick succession and tried telling me through eyes that probably you should give him that coke. After about a minute or 2 that kid spotted a different target and walked off after him. "THWACK" .. we heard a slap and turned to see that kid being slapped by that guy for irritating him. Shivu closed her eyes and I started to tug her away from the scene. We w...

Dont be a Bully , be a Star...

One of my teachers once told this to me, the following is what she said and I quote .. "I was taking English lectures for 12th grade and it was my first lecture in that class . I was randomly asking people some basic questions regarding grammar and general knowledge . After asking some 5-6 people , I looked at corner benches and on one of those benches was this quite boy sitting with petrified eyes , praying that I don't ask him . But that's what we , teachers do , ask the boy who we know doesn't have the answer (at least we think that he doesn't have any answer) . He stood up and stood there like a statue . It was first lecture so I spared him . But when this happened 5 times in a row , I lost my cool . I yelled at him in front of whole class and told him to bring his parents the next day as I thought he wasn't paying any attention in class.  " After college time was over, I was sitting in my classroom doing some paper work and this boy turns up...

Old faces

8:15 I get out of rickshaw right on time as usual to catch 8:32 train . Walking briskly thinking about my exam which will begin in about 2 hour , I notice a familiar face walking towards me. Those "faavda" teeth (that's what I like to call them :P ) and oval face with big bald spot in middle are his trademark features . I am seeing this guy after 4-5 years and I call out ," Rajesh uncle .. hie remember me ?", with a super excited face to see him. By the way for many who don't know him, he was a bus conductor in my school.  "Hie, Hetansh .. kem che (how are you) ?!" , being Marathi he can talk in quite a few local languages. I was actually surprised that he did remember me because I was changed beyond recognition after my school days . Wore lens , changed hairstyle ( I was like champu :P ) , voice and body and everything . He still recognised me where quite a lot of my school friends didn't when I met them after school , something was di...

Nobody want a bad death day !

One of my favorite quote is ," On their deathbed nobody has ever wished they had spent more time at office. " I have often asked myself ,"What do they wish they had spent more time doing? " Mostly the answers I get from friends is ," Spend more time with the people they love," You see, it's all about relationships, the stuff that life is made of. I have a slight different wish . At my deathbed I will wish to rate myself . How many people have I made happy and how many people have made me smile and been there when I needed their emotional support. Not many people have a life of celebrity cult where people die to attend their funeral . But we can hope that we at least get a funeral where every person present (however few they may be) wishes you a proper farewell and has only good memories in their heart. This is a short story of one of my friend (who doesn't want to disclose his identity) . One day he read some quote somewhere stating ...

Its all about your friend's Shoe not yours !

Lets say you go into a shoe store to buy a new pair of shoes. The sales clerk says,"What kind of shoes are you looking for? " "Well I am looking for something that..." "I think I know what you'd like", he interrupts ."Everyone is wearing these. Trust me." He rushes off and comes back with the ugliest pair of shoes you have ever seen ."Just take a look at these babies", he says. "But I really don't like them". "Everyone likes them. They are the hottest thing going right now". "I am looking for something different." "I promise you. You will love them". "but I..." "Listen. I've been selling shoes for ten years and I know a good shoe when I see it". After this experience, would you ever want to go to that store again? Definitely not. You can't trust people who give you solutions before they understand what your needs are. But did you know that...

Stage Fear & Acting

Who doesn't want to be a film-star .. the glamour and the royal lifestyle. I would be lying if I would say I never thought of that even once. People all around you craving for just one look of yours, the feeling of "I am very important and people need me". But all this is not a part of acting . Acting doesn't need glamour as support . I love Acting as skill and hobby, not because of its materialistic benefits. I love it because it gives me the chance to be someone else for a while . I can impersonate any of my "I wish I would be like him" character. Its not easy. Toughest part is having patience to perfect your expressions and timing with camera , your tone and accent .I prefer live acting than on camera . But before all these terms , you need to have the confidence of facing the crowd. In my school days I had terrible stage-fear. I stood tongue tied when asked to speak in front of everyone. My heart would thump right out of my mouth and I would finish ...

Proactive or Reactive.. choice is yours ;)

Each day you and I have about 100 chances to choose whether to be proactive or reactive. In any given day, the weather is bad, you can't find a job, your sibling irritates you with petty things, you loose an election at school, your friend talks behind your back, someone calls you names, your parents don't let you go out with friends on Saturday night (for no reason), your scooty gets towed, and you flunk a test. So what are you going to do about it? Are you in the habit of reacting to these kinds of everyday things, or are you proactive? The choice is yours. It really is. You don't have to respond the way everyone else does or the way people think you should. How many times have you been driving down the road when suddenly somebody cuts in front of you, making you slam on your brakes? What do you do? Do you fly off at the mouth? Give them the bird? Let it ruin your day? Or do you just let it go? Laugh about it. Move on. The choice is yours. Reactive people ma...
