Forgiveness

The following is a true incident which a friend of mine unfortunately experienced...

18 hostel friends were travelling from Belgaum to Goa on bikes to meet a friend of theirs who was apparently enjoying a holiday at her native place. It was a lively night. They were having a lot of fun riding  As they were nearing Goa, they saw a Ktm Duke (bike) with the speed of 120 km/hr arriving from the opposite direction (on the wrong side of the lane) nearing. The first 8 bikes quickly scattered away from the plausible collision. But the last one wasn't so lucky. Ami and Priyam got hit ...

Ami was out cold lying on the ground with some nasty bruises on face and hands. Priyam's right arm and leg took the hit. But he wasn't thinking about his pain, nor did he feel anger towards the boy who did this. He didn't even take a look at who was riding. He just ran beside Ami . He was scared as shit. After some 20-30 mins, the police and the ambulance came around and took everyone to hospital.

It turned out that the boy who was riding the Duke had consumed a lot of alcohol. He lost his front teeth. His parents could not believe that their boy could ever consume alcohol. He was in his last year of Degree college and was going to give his exams in June 2016.

Ami woke up in the ICU after 5 days . Her face was badly disfigure . She was in a lot of pain and facing bad ordeal. Goa police contacted her and asked her whether she wanted to press charges against the boy who was the reason for so much pain. All her friends were in for pressing charges. The boy's parents had come to the site of accident along with the police and pleaded Ami's friends not to press charges. After few days she decided that she will not press charges against the boy because he was in last year of his college. She didn't want to spoil the boy's career.

She said ," A person pardoned is a blessing earned ". She put others distress before hers. She didn't want the boy's parents to suffer for their son's crimes ...

PS : She didn't forgive the boy because she was weak. She forgave him because  she was strong enough to understand that people make mistakes.

Dedicated to,
Amishi Oza ( my boss in junior college :P ),
