A Nasty Tale: 1
A teenager, Johnny Fontane in his father's SUV, arrives home after committing a hit-and-run on a pregnant woman. Before Johnny could muster courage to tell his parents about this accident, every local news channel covers this news which states that both the woman and child are dead and her husband swears vengeance. Vito and Caroline Fontane cannot bear to give up their son. Being rich they hire a high profile lawyer and form a plan to have their caretaker Jose take the blame for half a million dollars.
The local prosecutor Gleeson Hedge sees through the plan because the investigation reports state that the mirrors were not adjusted for the caretaker. The prosecutor knows that the Fontanes are a very rich family and rather than informing the widower he goes to the defending lawyer. The Fontane's lawyer thinks it is prudent to include the lawyer in the scheme if they want to close the case fast. So the Fontanes lose another half million. Jose sees this and his greed increases and asks for an apartment along with the money. Also the prosecutor asks for more money to lay off the investigating officers.
The son sees all this and the guilt takes over. Johnny says he wants to confess. After a long argument with his parents he remains adamant and decides to confess. Vito Fontane calls Jose and informs the deal is off. Jose realizing that he asked for a little too much reduces this offer to half of what was originally decided. The lawyer too reduces seeing that his deal is getting away. Vito without consulting his wife or son agrees to this much reasonable deal and the son is made to stand down and keep low.
As Jose is taken away by the police, a man breaks from the crowd and jumps towards Jose. The dead woman's husband strikes him repeatedly on the head with a hammer.
