LOOKS : First impression ??

And I smiled. I hope you must have guessed, I was texting to my collage friend on whatsapp. After this a sudden thought took the peace out of my mind. I noticed I never text any of my male friends for their good DP(display picture). I quickly opened my facebook account to see how many comments I have made on someones good DP. I found out that 90%+ of them were good looking girls and boys who are very popular in school and college.
If you people must have noticed, there have been far more likes on a girl's picture than any boy's. Its not some stupid fact but a serious matter to think on. Are seriously they deserving so much amount of praise? What have they done? NOTHING. Absolutely nothing! Looks are gifted to them from their parents. And there is nothing ironical about it. Its outrageous that people tend to warm up with these small clique of good looking people, and you know what the funny part is, all good looking people become good friends of each other and comment of each others looks, dressing style, etc. and try to be modest. I am amazed that how perfectly it is categorized!!
If this so called looks are the top priorities of judging a person, I personally think there is something wrong going on in this society. Are good looks so important? On the contrary manners, behavior, maturity, sense of speaking deserve recognition and praise. Good looks are bestowed by God whereas these qualities are earned by people. I once had a conversation with a person about looks and how people tend to fall in love and get married to good looking ones. He said to me and i quote, People opting for arrange marriages have five main criteria 1)how much the person has studied 2) how much he earns. And other Three are looks.
Another conversation I had was with a teacher-friend of mine. She said "looks are only up to a certain age .. umm that is up to 40-45. After that age you have to tolerate that person your whole life ... are you willing to live with a person with bad attitude, rudeness or some other vices but only good looks to offer. You will repent your whole life for it.", and hearing this I was really touched with her presence of mind i.e. to look at the whole thing and not just some short span of life.
At the near end I would like to say Why i chose this topic to discuss in first place, we say looks are the first impression of the person, you tend to like a person, tend to give him a job so that his/her looks gets you more customers. I also hope I get more readers :P
